Wet Plate Collodion Photography

Wet plate collodion photography is a featured element of the Arctic Visions exhibit. Specifically the work accomplished by photographers John L. Dunmore and George Critcherson while aboard the Panther in 1869.

This is Quinn Jacobson’s short video about how to prepare and expose wet plate collodion negatives.

While the Collodion photography video seemed short, it was informative and lovely in demonstrating the basics of the techniques utilized. Since yesterday, I have watched the video several times to see the “flowing the plate” segment and how masterfully it was done, including pouring the excess in the small bottle. The resulting photographic images were remarkable in detail, depth, and color. Very nice! Thank you, Fran
